What’s On Your New Custom Home Wish List?
If you’ve been thinking about building a custom home, you’ve probably already started looking at a variety of different designs, layouts, or plans. We’ve found that a great way to start planning is to create a “wish list”. This is essentially a list of things that would be important to you to have in a new house. Some things are needs, and others are wants, but creating the wish list is a great first step – plus, it’s fun! It gets even better because we can help you turn that wish list into a reality!
To help you get started with your list, we’ve compiled a list of features that many of our previous clients have had on their lists.
Land / Privacy
Riteway Builders specializes in building custom homes in the more rural communities around Boise. Many of our previous clients wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city living and settle in a smaller community where they could enjoy more privacy and tranquility. Other clients wanted space for horses or other animals. Many of the new developments springing up around Boise have homes packed together like sardines. The good news is that there are still plenty of areas in Emmett, Middleton, Star, Eagle, and even some parts of Merdian, where larger lots, even acreages, can be found. If a larger building lot is on your wishlist, contact us, and we’ll show you some of the best options.
Gourmet Kitchen
If you love to cook, heck, let’s be honest, even if you don’t like to cook, having a gourmet kitchen is always a desirable feature in a new home. Common requests usually include a walk in pantry, a kitchen island, cabinets with tons of storage, and granite countertops. (for more information about kitchen design, see our recent blog post here)
The Master Bedroom/Bath
The master bedroom can be your sanctuary, a refuge from the storm of everyday life, so it is natural to want to add a few luxuries! Your master bedroom wish list might include a huge walk in closet, a reading nook, a fireplace, or maybe a door that leads to a private deck. No master bedroom would be complete without a master bath. Walk in showers, jetted tubs, dual vanities, were once considered niceties, but now are considered must haves.
The Man Cave
Some studies have shown that men who are allowed to fulfill their desire for solitude when needed, find it easier to handle their day to day work and family responsibilities. True or not, man caves are a popular request in a custom home design. We’ve incorporated everything from weight rooms filled with work out equipment to full bars and large screen home theatre systems.
A Big Garage
Recreational opportunities abound here in Idaho. Places to camp, hunt, hike, bike, boat, fish, ski, go off-roading, and more, are all within a short driving distance from Boise. Home designs that incorporate RV parking or large garage storage areas for toys are very popular in this area. Even if you don’t have the recreations toys now, it’s not a bad idea to plan for the future by incorporating the extra garage storage space.
Mud Room
Mom’s everywhere rejoice at the thought of a having mud room, it’s like a barrier that protects rest of the home from muddy shoes, wet clothes, and dirt covered kids. Mud rooms should have ample storage for coats, clothes, backpacks, and more. We’ve even added bathroom and showers into mud room areas that offer easy access for kids who love spending time playing outside.
