The Benefits of Rural Area Living
I spent several years living in a city of over 4 million, and while the big cities certainly have their own appeal, I definitely understand the desire that many of my clients have to live in a more rural setting. My family and I absolutely love living in Emmett, ID.
Imagine leaving the crowded, polluted, noisy city, where homes are stacked together at arm’s length, to living in a rural area around Boise, ID. Instead of a view of the neighbor’s house, imagine seeing only rolling foothills, mountains, or farms and fields. Imagine having enough backyard space to do just about any activity you want. The air is fresh and clean, and at night, you can sit on the back porch and actually see the milky way.
Sounds nice, doesn’t it? Again, it’s no wonder why so many people are trading in big city life for rural area living!
At Riteway Builders we’ve helped clients from all over California, Washington, Oregon, realize their dreams of building homes in smaller Idaho communities like Emmett, Middleton, Star, and Eagle.
If you are thinking about building a custom home in a more rural area around Boise, here are some of the things my family and many of my clients love about living here.
Cost Of Living
Owning or building a home in or around the large metro areas of California or Washington can cost upwards of 65% more than what it costs to own or build here in Idaho. Many of our clients who have sold their homes in those areas can afford to build a bigger home, on more land, with all the upgrades they desire, and still, have plenty of money left over.
Community
No matter where you live there will always be some good and bad, but generally speaking, and I have witnessed this first hand living in Emmett, there is a very strong sense of community. People know each other and they help and support each other. It’s not in a nosy or obnoxious way either, people here enjoy their independence, but are friendly and always willing to help one another.
Peace and Quiet
It really is peaceful in Emmett and similar communities outside Boise. Except for rare occasions, there are no persistent noisy sirens or honking horns. If you are looking for an escape from all the hustle and bustle of a big city, there are plenty of wide open quiet areas to live in this area.
Proximity To Boise
Don’t think you will have to give up on good food, cultural experiences, or important services. Boise is just a short drive away and offers a wonderful variety of culture, dining, and entertainment options. (Don’t overlook even some of the local eateries!). It’s a short drive to major hospitals, shopping, and any other service providers.
Schools
Schools in rural areas around Boise often have a much lower student to teacher ratios and have very acceptable ratings. There are also a number of different charter schools in the area. Don’t forget that Boise State University, College of Western Idaho, Northwest Nazarene, College of Idaho, and other colleges are close by.
